The Lion & Rose Reliquary Chatelaine 🌹🦁

I’ve been wanting to make a chatelaine for years.

Victorian chatelaines were worn at the waist and carried the small useful things of daily life—keys, scissors, purses, tiny treasures.

For my version, I wanted to make something that carried symbolic magical treasures with a pinch of practical use. The lion heart serves as the actual pin (there is a pin on the back) to secure the piece to one’s garb. I’ve added rhinestones & roses to the brassy gold lion’s shield.

A tiny sword hangs below, and beneath that a useable vintage chainmail purse which I’ve adorned with a rose detail.

This is a one-of-a-kind reliquary chatelaine, and the first I’ve ever made after years of plotting and thinking about them.

Perhaps the first of many…or perhaps a solitary relic from the Order of the Lion & Rose. ✨
